Import IGES File

Modeling: ExchangeImport/ExportImport 3D FilesIGES (up to 5.3)

From within this dialog you can import IGES files (versions 4.0, 5.2, and 5.3) written by many of today’s CAD systems.

Because the program is based on the ACIS kernel which uses the SAT data format, IGES data need to be converted to ACIS data and checked for consistency (called : healing). This is a very difficult and time consuming process which may fail sometimes.

In case the model can not be imported correctly – you may heal the critical parts of the structure yourself by using the healing tools.

Open

Opens the selected IGES file, and adds the structure to your model.

After the import process has been completed you will be asked if you would like to see a log file.

This file give you information about whether the import has been completed successfully or not.

Cancel

Closes this dialog box without performing any further action.

Copy file to project

Use this option to copy the import file to the project folder. If you save your project to another destination the imported file is copied automatically. For more information see Copy_file_to_project.

Healing

Enable this check button to heal the structure after it is imported. Healing checks the imported structure and tries to repair it if necessary.

Scale to current unit

Enables scaling of the imported model to the currently active unit. If not activated the import feature uses the source units. In such a case, no scaling occurs.
