Notes

For Duobinary with Pre-coding , the input is exclusive-ORed with a previous value of the the exclusive-OR output. This value passes through a digital filter comprised of a one sample delay. Each binary value is represented by –1 for a low input value and +1 for a high input value. The out­put is equal to the sum of the delayed exclusive-OR symbol and the input exclusive-OR symbol, which will produce three possible values of –2, 0, and +2. The initial delayed input value is low.

For decoding purposes, no memory is needed. A 0 represents a high input value. Any non-zero value represents a low input value.
