In this example, the oscillation frequency and oscillation amplitude of an oscillator circuit are calculated as a function of the tuning voltage. The project has been set up as a parameter sweep. Oscillation frequency and oscillation frequency are calculated from transient simulation results for the probe "Out", via Template Based Postprocessing.
The model contains a bipololar transistor as an amplifying device .Feedback is provided via a shorted microstrip line. The bipolar transistor is biased by a single bias source with a voltage divider at the base to provide suitable bias conditions. The oscillation frequency is tuned by a DC voltage source, biasing a varactor diode. A very small current signal is injected at port 1 and has been set up as a damped sinoidal excitation. It is required to trigger oscillation but does not affect the steady state solution because it is very small.
